A short walk through GrandHotel brings diversity to your eyes. Even a quick stop in the lobby to drink flavorful cappuccino open doors for intercultural exchange and sweet conversations. To exemplify what it means we started to interview people who experience intensely the life in Grandhotel Cosmopolis.
Hassan first time heard about GrandHotel Cosmopolis while living in Berlin. His friend described here as a place where different cultures and people experience life together and accept each other indifferent to religion, colors, and material possessions. “After hearing that I said “OK, really? And it is in Bavaria? Very interesting”. So, I decided to visit the GrandHotel and since then I often come here to stay for a few days or weeks”. It has been more than three years now.
Hassan moved to Germany to carry out medical procedures due to having been extremely injured during the Egyptian revolution of 2011 which consisted of demonstrations, marches, occupations of plazas, non-violent civil resistance, acts of civil disobedience and strikes that demanded the overthrow of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. Hassan explains that in his point of view part of the revolution was demanding unreal changes which would result in a simple change of actors: “Once I understood that changing from one wing to another one or electing a different political party to assume the power don’t change the real situation I started to ask “Why do we make the same mistakes again and again? Why we should have a President?”. In conclusion, he believes that the changes must be performed at the system level.
