Die Dizzy Birds sind eine traditionelle Jazzband, die von sechs jungen Musikern aus verschiedenen Ländern gegründet wurde. Ihr gemeinsamer Wohnort ist Berlin. Obwohl die musikalischen Hintergründe der Bandmitglieder sehr unterschiedlich sind, vereint alle Bandmitglieder die Faszination an der ältesten Form der Jazzmusik, welche sich Anfang des letzten Jahrhunderts in New Orleans entwickelte.
Begonnen hat die Band mit Straßenmusik sowie Underground Partys und sich dadurch schnell einen Namen in der Berliner Swingtanz und Clubszene gemacht. Da findet man sie allerdings nur noch selten, denn sie spielen mittlerweile auf internationalen Jazz Festivals und Swingtanz Events. Dort begleiten sie oft einige der besten zeitgenössischen Musiker aus New Orleans wie z.B. Meschiya Lake, Russel Welch und Joseph Faison.
Der Sound der Band lässt den originalen, rauhen und kraftvollen frühen Jazz wieder aufleben, als die Musik noch heiß, unterhaltsam und tanzbar war.
Inspiriert von den großen Interpreten und Komponisten, wie Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Louis Armstrong’s Hot Five und Sidney Bechet, liefert die Band frische Interpretationen und packende Arrangements, die bis jetzt jedes Publikum, ob Swingtänzer, Jazzliebhaber oder feiernde Massen in Clubs begeistert haben.
Wir freuen uns die Dizzy Birds im Grandhotel Cosmopolis zu begrüßen und mit ihnen durch den Abend zu tanzen.
// Dizzy Birds are a traditional jazz band formed by six young international musicians based in Berlin. Although each member comes from a different background, they all share the same passion for the oldest jazz in the world which was born in New Orleans at the beginning of last century.
Having quickly gained recognition in the swing dancing community and club scene of Berlin the band moved on from the streets and undergrounds to jazz festivals and international dance events in Europe becoming one of the best hot jazz bands in the scene, often collaborating with some of the finest musicians from New Orleans. (Meschiya Lake, Russell Welch, Joseph Faison…) The style of the band resurrects the original rough and powerful sound of early jazz where music was meant to be hot, entertaining and danceable. Inspired by the greatest composers such as Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver, Louis Armstrong’s hot five, Sidney Bechet, the band delivers fresh interpretations and thrilling arrangements, exciting all kinds of audiences from dancers, jazz connoisseurs to party crowds.
