From the beginning, Grandhotel Cosmopolis has woven artistic freedom together with social responsibility. People arriving in this city, artists, activists, asylum seekers, neighbors, students and travelers, find a space to exchange, to grow, and to collaborate creatively.
What began as an open experiment has become a cultural and social ecosystem, showing what it means for people of different backgrounds to live, work and dream under one roof. This closeness connects, challenges and teaches us every day.

of Responsibility
Living together makes responsibility tangible.
At Grandhotel Cosmopolis, around 50-60 people seeking asylum live side by side with guests, artists, and neighbors, right in the heart of the house. Although these living areas are managed by the Government of Swabia (Regierung Schwaben), not by Grandhotel Cosmopolis itself, this daily closeness shapes our commitment to dignity, encounter, and a fair, humane perspectives on asylum and integration.
While we do not replace public responsibility, we actively create spaces of encounter and stand for humane, long-term perspectives and a fair asylum policy, shaped by lived experience, not ideology. Our approach is grounded in human dignity and real needs.
At Grandhotel Cosmopolis, awareness means taking care of each other in daily encounters, during events, and behind the scenes. People working in the house are trained in awareness practices and know how to respond if boundaries are crossed or support is needed. Our goal is not perfection, but responsibility: listening, intervening when necessary, and shaping a space where respect and dignity come first.
